Vidastra School sits on the Vastral Road education corridor, a short drive from the institutes that made Ahmedabad the country's design capital. We built our timetable to match — design-thinking, textile craft and robotics are scheduled subjects here, not after-school extras.
"We didn't want a school bolted onto a business park. We wanted one that borrowed its method from the city around it — patient, layered, built one step at a time."— Founding Note, Vidastra School
Most schools treat their location as an accident of real estate. Ours doesn't: the name Vidastra comes from vidya, knowledge, and astra, an instrument — the idea that learning is a tool built layer by layer, the way Gujarat's stepwells were carved down toward water, one level of use at a time.
That idea shapes our timetable. Alongside a full Cambridge academic programme in maths, sciences and languages, every student takes structured studio time in design, textile craft or robotics — taught by practitioners drawn from Ahmedabad's design and maker community.
A structured academic core, benchmarked to international standards, taught in small sections.
Block-print, weaving and product sketching are scheduled subjects, not Friday-afternoon clubs.
Visiting faculty drawn from Ahmedabad's design and maker studios teach select senior electives.
Each stage builds on the one before it — the same studio-and-syllabus model, scaled to the age of the student.
Play-based learning, early literacy and numeracy, and first exposure to clay, colour and rhythm.
Core Cambridge subjects alongside structured craft and design-play periods, three times a week.
Subject specialisation begins; students choose a primary studio focus — textile design, robotics or visual art.
Science, Commerce and Humanities streams, with practitioner-taught electives in design and applied art.
Capped section sizes with interactive boards in every room from Class III upward.
CCTV-monitored entry points, visitor sign-in and trained security staff on every shift.
A core teaching staff supplemented by working designers, artisans and engineers.
The design focus sits alongside — never instead of — a full, exam-ready academic core.
A dedicated maker-hall hosts a termly design showcase, open to the wider Vastral community.
On the Vastral Road hub, with school transport across eastern and central Ahmedabad.
Every space on campus is built to flex between a standard Cambridge classroom and a working studio.
Interactive panels and document cameras in every section from Class III up.
12,000-volume collection with a dedicated quiet-reading wing.
Physics, chemistry and biology labs, plus a dedicated robotics and coding room.
Block-print tables, sewing machines, 3D printers and product-sketch benches.
Basketball and badminton courts, an athletics track, and weekly swim sessions off-site.
Wet and dry studio space for dyeing, weaving and painting, naturally lit on the top floor.
Seats are confirmed in the order assessments are completed, not the order enquiries arrive — so step two matters more than step one.
Send the form alongside, or call the admissions desk directly on +91 423 245 3300.
A guided walk-through of classrooms and studios, with time to meet section teachers.
An informal interaction for younger applicants; a written and oral assessment from Class III.
Submit documents and fees within the window shared by the admissions office to lock the seat.
Tell us about your child and we'll arrange a campus visit slot.
"My son struggled to sit still in his old school. Here, the design-studio periods seem to have given him an outlet — his class teacher says his focus during maths has actually improved since."
"We chose Vidastra because of the location, honestly — but it's the small section sizes that have kept us here. My daughter's teachers know exactly where she's strong and where she needs a push."
"The termly maker-showcase in the campus hall has become a genuine family event. Watching my daughter present her own textile project this year was not something I expected from a Cambridge school."
